BACKGROUND

Friends of the Earth (HK) joining hands with Club 21 to organize an e-Card Design Competition entitled Make a Green Wish this Xmas. Members of the public will be invited to create their dream for a green Christmas, and encourage them to share their vision and good wishes with their family, friends, colleagues and many other who visits the homepage of FoE (HK) during the Christmas season.

Millions of hectares of forest are destroyed every year. Since 1995, Friends of the Earth (HK) has organized different Green Christmas programmes aimed at mobilizing the community to reduce the sending of traditional paper cards and to recycle all those they do receive. For a better and more eco-friendly way to share the joy of Christmas, an electronic card is an appropriate choice.

OBJECTIVES

1.
To provide a platform for entrants to produce a creative Christmas card with an environmental message to urge individuals to protect the environment and conserve natural resources.

2.
To make all the winning designs available for use so that the various sectors of the community can greet each other freely via this eco-friendly manner instead of sending traditional paper-made Christmas cards.

3.
To raise public awareness about environmental protection over the festive season.
