Invitation
to ¡§Power Smart¡¨ Energy Saving Contest
2010
Friends of the
Earth (HK) took the lead to mobilize
the public to reduce electricity consumption
and organized ¡§Power Smart¡¨ since 2006.
With joint efforts, we have saved over
37 million kWh of electricity and reduced
26,121 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
You
are cordially invited to join the 5th
"Power Smart" Energy Saving
Contest this summer, riding on the prime
energy saving target of 12 million kWh
of electricity units to be reached.
Incentives have increased, over HK$110,000
in cash and prizes will be awarded to
the winners, so as to encourage more
people to participate for a greater
achievement in conserving energy and
reducing emissions of carbon dioxide.
For both the ¡§Company¡¨ category and
¡§Property Management¡¨ category, certificates
will be awarded to the top three winners.
Apart from that, all other participating
companies reaching their energy saving
target by at least 2% will be awarded
a Certification of Appreciation. Many
other award items are featured in the
website.
Electricity
consumption by individual participating
parties in the designated period from
15th June 2010 to 12th September 2010
(90 consecutive days) must be lower
than the consumption in the corresponding
period in 2009; those reduced by at
least 2% are eligible for a prize. The
Contest contains three categories, Household,
Company and Property Management.

Household Category
This
category includes families of all forms and sizes.
Each electricity bill account counts as one unit.
2)
Company Category
This
category includes companies of all businesses
and sizes. Each company counts as one unit; branches
of the same company located in different districts,
floors of the same building and so forth can combine
together as one entry or separate. (The sectors
of Hotel as well as Academia are inclusive)
3)
Property Management Category
This
category includes property management companies
of all forms and sizes. Each management company
counts as one unit; headquarters and branches
of the same company located in different districts,
estates, car parks, lobbies, corridors and so
forth can combine together as one entry or separate.

energy consumption with action so as to combat
climate change with a Power Smart attitude. Please
