Earth Partner is a community-wide charitable environmental awareness-building programme organized by Friends of the Earth (HK) “FoE (HK)” since 2005. The purpose of the programme is to educate and arouse the interest of the general public by spreading the green message that everyone can make a difference in creating a better living environment. The Earth Partner programme has been officially launched on Earth Day in 2005, with a focus on improving the air quality in Hong Kong. Earth Day, held on 22 April each year, is an international event coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme to build awareness for environmental protection and resource conservation.

Earth Partner is an annual programme, and a new environmental theme will be launched on World's Earth Day 22 April each year. The first programme was officially launched in 2005 with a focus on improving the air quality in Hong Kong. We received an encouraging response to the programme and have since formed an Earth Partnership with 27 organizations that represent different sectors of our community. Over the course of last year, we have worked with our Earth Partners on a regular basis and provided educational workshops, environmental solutions and regular communications to assist them in setting and reinforcing their environmental goals. A number of Earth Partners also demonstrated their concern and interest in our environmental activities by participating such as the energy saving programme to promote 25 degrees Celsius indoor air-conditioning and the waste reduction campaign Moonkick Action. Our Earth Partners have also taken their own initiatives to organize environmental events or simply take progressive steps in a daily effort to make a difference. We have truly appreciated their enthusiasm and support.
