Through
the Earth Partner programme organized by
FoE (HK), we have lined up .Jupiter・ Club
21 (Hong Kong) Limited and .Mercury・ Leung
Kui Kau Lutheran Primary School for a project
combining school greening and corporate
social responsibility. The first project
was successfully launched on Saturday, 11th
Oct 2008.
.School Greening Scheme・ contains three
parts, including (1) setting up six medium-sized
movable flowerbeds, planting different types
of vegetation, (2) developing a mini farming
site and (3) improving the landscape of
the gardens. Thanks Club 21 for sponsoring
the scheme and organizing a volunteering
team with 30 staff members. They spent a
morning with the student representatives
to plant the seedlings, to beautify the
landscape and weed the gardens. |

Volunteers of Club 21 helped putting the bamboos
in order.
(Right) Students were working hard on weeding
as same as the volunteers.
This
was the first time for some staff volunteers
of Club 21 to participate in the greening
job, they said: .The activity is different
from the daily office work. It not just
brings them new experiences, but also sense
of achievement upon completion・. Being the
beneficiary, the school principal, teachers
and students took the initiative to extend
the scheme to become teaching and learning
materials, as well as to practice liberal
studies.
This is only the first phase, volunteers
of Club 21 will re-visit the school in 2009.
Planning in the first quarter, taking self-planted
vegetation to visit an elderly centre with
teachers and student representatives. Making
it a value-added scheme for the community.
