The partnership is open for all sizes and sectors of the community that are willing to take part in this environmental initiative. Each participating organization will be named as an Earth Partner by pledging support and contributing to the environmental endeavours organized by FoE (HK) throughout the year. Earth Partners have to commit to performing simple tasks in line with the objectives of the programme in the daily life to help reduce environmental impacts.

The first annual Earth Partner programme was formally launched on Earth Day* since 2005. As our local community contribution to the global efforts of Earth Day, we have established a partnership with 71 organizations in many kinds of scale since then. The 2009-2010 Earth Partner programme was commenced on 22nd April 2009 and will run for the period of one year till 21st April 2010.

* Earth Day, held on 22nd April each year, an international event coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme to build awareness for environmental protection and resource conservation.

There are certainly different ways to tackle environmental issues. A firm commitment to environmental ethics by members within the organization is one of the effective solutions. Here are some highlights of the current activities that our Earth Partners took part.

FoE (HK) hosted eco-tours for Earth Partners every year since 2007 to convey important environmental messages to their staff through field studies. We organized eco visits to Soko Island in 2007 and Tai O in 2008. They were joined by representatives came from various Earth Partners along with our members. (more 2007, 2008)

FoE (HK) lined up with corporate Earth Partner Club 21 and school Earth Partner Lutheran Leung Kui Kau Primary School during 2008-2009 to develop a school greening project, strengthening both corporate social responsibility and liberal studies. (more)

Power Smart energy saving campaign that mobilized the general public to conserve energy with the leading support by AVIVA Life Insurance Company Limited, Hong Kong Housing Society and different Earth Partners who are property developers. (more)

Endorsed by FoE (HK), 3M Hong Kong Ltd. launched the "3M Nomad Recycling Program", taking practical step to strengthen producer responsibility. (more)
