Agenda 2047 calculated Hong Kong's ecological footprint in 1997 in five sectors, namely energy, water, material, food and urban. It was found that all but the urban sector of Hong Kong were very unsustainable, and in particular, the energy footprint was even 6 times larger than the world's fair share. Thus, the study further
discussed various ways of reducing the footprints of various sectors and identified the opportunities for Hong Kong to develop into a sustainable Eco-City.

The 142-page report is colour-printed on both sides of A3 papers (A4 papers upon request) with illustrations. The report is now ready for distribution at $500 per copy (for schools and charity) or $1000 (for commercial organisations).

In addition, we would appreciate it if you could make donation of $1000 to FoE to support our continuous development of this research project. Currently, FoE is coordinating discussion groups and forums on ecological footprint and developing sustainable development curriculum for students based on the footprint concept. Your professional inputs on the footprint research and curriculum development would be much welcomed and appreciated.

Please fill in the order form to get a copy of the report. An executive summary of the report is also available. Should you have any enquiries, please feel free to phone us at 2528 5588 or email us .

When you order a take away,
bring your carrier or reusable container. This helps to reduce non-biodegradable styrofoam packaging.

Promote paperless office
Promote a paperless office by sending send emails instead of mail and link up your computer network, as this cuts
down on the need for printing jobs which will save paper. Reuse computer print-out paper as memo pads or telephone message pads.

Reduce Water Consumption
When brushing your teeth, use water in tumbler instead of from a running
tap. Take a shower instead of bathing
in a bathtub. Install a dual-action flush in your toilet to reduce
water consumption.

Say Yes to Public Transportation
Public transport can usually take more people at a time to their destinations,
which reduces your energy consumption. You can also consider
other means of transportation, such as a bicycle or simply go on foot if
possible.
